Don’t Miss This Great-Grandmother’s Beautiful Reflection on Life and Aging

92-year-old Wanda B. Goines recently took the Internet by storm when she was recorded reciting a beautiful poem about growing old. Goines wrote “The Gift-Wrap and the Jewel” as a reflection on her life. Since her caretaker filmed and uploaded the video, it has received over four million views, as people are moved by the woman’s heartwarming words of wisdom.

Goines is a mother of eight, grandmother of fifteen, great-grandmother of four, a poet, and an artist. Her family is touched by the interest people are taking in her words. Her son, David Goines, had this to say of the attention his mother has recently received:

“She is not long for this Earth and it delights her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, as well as all those who knew her and love her, that she is able to make a contribution to the world–even as she is leaving it.”
