1. John 14:1-4
Jesus described heaven to his disciples with the words: “Let a not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know.”
2. 2 Corinthians 5:6-8
Paul reassures the Corinthians that spiritual things are stronger than earthly dwellings, so humans should be confident that God stands with them. “So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. For we walk by faith, not by sight. We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.”
3. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18
Paul tells the Thessalonians to comfort one another. “For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with a the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.”
